What is Visual Note Taking?

Visual Note Taking, a.k.a Graphic Recording, Graphic Facilitation, or Scribing is all about….

Creating visual representations of live events in real time.

I use simple words and fun illustrations to create a record of your conversation, speech or meeting..

At the end of the session, there is a fun, visually engaging map of the conversations, ideas and opinions shared - how cool is that??

✅ Make the information fun and accessible!

✅ Keep everyone in the room engaged (even during the post-lunch slump… )

My name is Leah / Is mise Leah

Hello! My name is Leah O'Donoghue, I am an Irish Illustrator, who specialises in Live Event Illustration! You talk, I draw.

I love to draw at events for women’s health, social justice & sustainability. I grew up in a coastal Gaeltacht, is feidir liom obair trí Gaeilge agus Béarla
(nó dhá-theangach)

When I’m not attending live events, I spend my time drawing birds, dogs and other silly creatures.

FAQs:

  • Yes, check out my portfolio here, or I frequently post my work on Instagram :)

  • I’m based in Limerick Ireland. I work all over the counrty and I am also willing to travel for international events. I also work online, remotely from my office (Yay for the internet!)

  • Good Question - It depends on the details of your event. In-Person Live Illustration starts from €775 and Online Live Illustration starts from €450. Get a custom quote here or send me an email.

  • My process from start to finish goes like this:

    1. We meet online to discuss your event in detail. I advise you on where Live Illustration will fit in best and create a bespoke plan for you.

    2. I show up to the event 1 -1.5hrs before kick-off to set up my equipment & prepare my canvas. For online events I’ll log on 30mins before kick off to do a tech check.

    3. I draw what you say! I capture the conversations and key pieces of info in real time.

After the event I deliver high quality images of the illustration to you ready for you to share. Waheyy

  • Yes! When I draw in person, you get to keep the physical piece of paper. I take high quality images and edit them so that they look super snazz and are ready to share on your social platforms & website.

Imagine if I kept every Live- Illustration I made? MY studio would be choca-block with them!!

  • I work online AND in person. I can create Visual Notes for Zoom meetings and in-person gatherings.

  • I use 150gsm paper and water based inks. Most of my markers are from a company called Neualnd. They’re refillable and the tips are replaceable - making them super friendly to the environment.

When I work digitally, I use an iPad and a software called ProCreate.
