What is Visual Note-Taking & Other FAQs…

Hello! If you’re here you might be wondering to yourself, ‘’What is Visual Note-taking?’’ Or, ‘’Where do you get paper that big?’’ or even ‘’Why is that woman drawing those pictures, what does it all mean?!’’

It’s okay, sometimes I wonder these things too, but here I will break down some of the most frequently asked questions:

What is Visual Note-taking?

Short answer: Visual Note-taking is the process of translating complex spoken information into concise, easy to understand images and text.

You may think of it as creating hand-drawn infographics LIVE! Other ways of describing Visual Note-taking are:

  • Graphic Recording

  • Live-Scribing

  • Event Illustration

  • Live Illustration

Even shorter answer: you talk, I draw what you say.

Why Should I include Visual Note-Taking in my event?

Impact: Visual Note-taking makes people go ‘’WOW!’’, if you want your event (and the information being shared) to be memorable - Visual Note-taking is the solution.

Learning Styles: Nowadays we understand that people learn and process information in many different ways. By including visual note-taking you ensure that your event is accessible to many learning styles.

Accessibility: Conferences, Forums, Focus Groups - these can all be intimidating spaces, especially for people with different levels of education, literacy or language proficiency. Visual Note-taking breaks down these barriers.Fun colours, illustrations and witty words take the edge off, ensuring EVERYBODY feels comfortable and welcome in the space.

Visual Note-taking is more than just flashy illustrations and snazzy hand lettering - it all creates an inclusive and welcoming environment at your event.

How does it work?

This question is and easy one:

  1. You reach out to me with your event details: If I am free and able we lock in the date and begin to plan!

  2. We have a 30min consultation, discussing the agenda & how best to include Visual Note-taking. We will decide whether to go digital or analog and what colours to use too.

  3. I arrive at your event, and create the visual note - MAGIC! If I’m working with pen and paper, you get to keep the visuals.

  4. Digital Versions of the notes are delivered to you, ready to use for reports, social media & much much more.

I hope this clears up what Visual Note-taking is, check out more of my work here or request a quote here :-)
